In the Hotel Rural Fuente del Val, we want to offer a comfortable accommodation and a good gastronomic offer based on a traditional style cuisine, Castilian and Basque, we are also interested in the kitchen of the mushrooms in addition to some international dishes and even exotic and always with seasonal products and of good quality.

We seek to create a relaxed atmosphere and a friendly service with our customers, without invading their privacy and always willing to give them any information or assistance they may need to make your stay more enjoyable.

Apart from the amenities that the establishment offers, the area in general has a potential for entertainment very important, which are basically based on sports and outdoor activities as well as an important cultural offer.

                Sporting Activities

  • Hiking, there are ideal places to walk around the area, with little difficulty, in the vicinity of our village.
  • If you want to do more difficult, very close, in the Palentina Mountains can find heights of up to 2500 m. The Espiguete, Curavacas, etc.
  • Mountain bike. There are plenty of forest tracks and ideal biking areas in the vicinity. In the nearby town of Alar del Rey bicycles can be hired.
  • Canoeing on the River Pisuerga. in Alar del Rey www.carlosvillalobos.es organizes canoeing from Alar del Rey to Herrera de Pisuerga (about 10 Km.) of travel low difficulty and very entertaining. Come on, you don't need to be an expert.

  • Horse riding routes, in collaboration with the Hnos. Bascones in the nearby town of Valtierra of Albacastro, you can make interesting excursions ahorse, you may contact them by email  picaderobascones@kenter.com

  • Winter sports can be practiced in season in the winter station of Alto Campoo, located in the vicinity of Reinosa to 1 hour drive from our establishment.

  • The water sports and swimming are practicing in the artificial beaches of the marshes of Aguilar de Campoo and Ruesga near Cervera de Pisuerga. There are public pools in Alar del Rey to 4 km and in Herrera de Pisuerga to 10 Km.

             Excursions

  • European Bison reservation, San Cebrian de Muda, Palencia

  • The Path of the Marshes, departing from the Parador Nacional de Cervera de Pisuerga, up to the mining area of Guardo, you can enjoy an impressive landscape.

  • Visits to typical villages of the area, Cervera de Pisuerga, Saldaña, Carrión de los Condes, Aguilar de Campoo, Herrera de Pisuerga, Guardo, Barruelo, Brañosera,etc.

  • Visit to the Canal de Castilla, impressive engineering work (for the time), began to build it in the eighteenth century, with the intention of serving as a means of transport. Today, its main use is irrigation and as a tourist attraction.    www.canaldecastilla.org

  • Scenic places to walk, Las Tuerces in Olleros, La Peña Amaya impressive watchtower with a lot of history, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view, the Tejeda of Tosande where you can admire the twisted yews, some with more than 1000 years.  Closer to our village can stroll through the surrounding pine and look for mushrooms in season, or climb Peña Pico (1180 m.) and Peña Cortada, where you can enjoy the flight of vultures menacing and good views of the area, it is also frequent sighting any herd of roe deer, foxes, hares, and many birds of prey, the wild boar also abounds but is more difficult to see.

  • La Cueva de los Franceses, The Cave of the French, with a fantastic natural environment at the Paramo La Lora and the impressive view of the Mirador of Valcabado.

  • La Villa Romana de la Olmeda, The Roman Villa of La Olmeda, at Pedrosa de la Vega, one of the best preserved and contains some stunning mosaics, then you can take a tour to Saldaña, typical village of the area.

  • The Roman Villa of the Tejada in Quintanilla de la Cueza (50 min. driving from Pradanos de Ojeda)

  • Centro de Interpretación de la Minería y la Mina Visitable Center for the interpretation of the mining and Mine Visitable Barruelo de Santullán and after having a look around and eat well in the place that was the first town hall of Spain, the nice village of Branosera.

  • You can make a day trip traveling through the Port of Piedrasluengas, once up and after taking a few photos of the stunning landscape, make a technical stop for Venta Pepin to eat a plate of ham and cheese or anything else you want. Then continue the journey up to the typical village of Potes where you can enjoy the local food. In the afternoon you can continue up to Fuente De where if you do not have fear of heights, you can hop on a cable car up to the very heart of the Picos de Europa.

  •  In a radius of approximately 100 km you can visit very interesting cities such as Palencia, Burgos, León and even Santander and its beautiful beaches, .All of them well-connected by motorway

      Cultural Activities

  • El Arte Románico The concentration of samples of Romanesque Art in this area constitutes one of its greatest attractions and a very valuable piece of our cultural and artistic heritage. To mention only those closest to our village, you can't leave without visiting the Cistercian Monastery of San Andrés de Arroyo 2 km from Prádanos, where the Clarisas nuns will show you the beautiful Cloister, in addition you will be able to buy ceramics, pastas and delicious pastries.

  • You must also visit the Granja de Santa Eufemia and the Hermita XII Century. A beautiful place, very well preserved, and  famous for its chamber music concerts and classical music in the month of August 

  • Closing the circle and on the way back to Prádanos make a stop at Moarves de Ojeda, there awaits an impressive facade carved in stone and inside the Church do not leave without seeing the baptismal font and its wooden ceiling.

  • The village of Frómista in the Camino de Santiago, the Church of San Martin is worthy of a restful visit.

  • In Olleros de Pisuerga, very close to Pradanos, visit the Church-Cave excavated in the rock.
